Ebooks at Unitec Library

How to get the best use of the ebooks provided by Unitec Library.

Reading an eBook

Read your eBook on your electronic device - desktop, laptop, tablet, smartphone or eReader.

Most of our eBooks are able to be read online and as well as downloaded.

Software for reading

Some eBooks have built-in restrictions controlling the use of the eBook content on devices.  Before using these eBooks you may need to install free software to download and read the eBook offline. You'll be asked to install the software at the time of borrowing.

You usually need Adobe Digital Editions for a desktop or laptop computer, and the Bluefire Reader for a mobile device:

Like print books, Adobe Digital Edition eBooks have loan periods. Once the loan period is over, the book will become inaccessible. If you still need the eBook, you can download it again.

Often you can print parts or a chapter of an eBook.

Often you have to loan the book before being allowed to print any of it.

Look for a printer icon in the top right-hand corner to start printing.

Referencing and citing

Export the citations of your readings to referencing software such as Mendeley, Zotereo or Endnote using the options provided on each system.

See Unitec Library's Referencing and Citing guide for more information on how to acknowledge eBook sources in your academic writing.
