In this module you can learn what order you must use when you simplify algebraic expressions.

The above video from Algebra for Dummies is a quick review of order of operations. She goes pretty fast, and she uses the term "parentheses" where we in New Zealand say "brackets", but if you just need a refresher this is a good place to start.

The ten-minute video above from Khan Academy contains an introduction to order of operations. He also uses the term "parentheses" instead of "brackets".

Even though we use BEDMAS to remember the order of operations, you do not do all Division before any Multiplication. You do division and multiplication in order from left to right. You also do addition and subtraction in order from left to right.

- Read about order of operationsThis online tutorial from math.com is useful for people who just need a refresher on order of operations.
- Study order of operationsThis online tutorial from cimt.plymouth.ac.uk contains text, examples and practice problems for you to try.
- Download order of operations worksheetsAt Math-Aids.com you can create your own Order of Operations worksheets to print. (Because they are US-based, they say "parentheses" instead of "brackets". So BEDMAS becomes PEMDAS in these worksheets.)
- Download order of operations workseet from KutaThis worksheet from Kuta Software provides you with 26 order of operations problems.
- Quiz yourself on order of operationsTry this online quiz from mathopolis to check your understanding of order of operations.
