NVivo

ABout NVivo

Nvivo is a qualitative data analysis computer software package produced by Lumivero. It is not a free software. Unitec has acquired several licenses for staff and postgraduate students. NVivo works with both Window and MAC.

Some of its features include:

  • Importing data from virtually any sources.
  • Analysing data with advanced management, query, and visualisation tools.
  • Asking complex questions of data to identify themes and draw clear conclusions.
  • Achieving more robust research result in less time.

Installing NVivo

  • Staff can make a request via the IT Self Service - see here for details
  • Postgraduate students can have Nvivo installed by contacting IT at email software@unitec.ac.nz .

R

About R

R is a programming language and free software environment for statistical computing and graphics. It compiles and runs on UNIX platforms, Windows and Mac Operating System.

Interestingly, R was created by Ross Ihaka and Robert Gentleman at the University of Auckland. It is named after the first names of its creator.

Installing/downloading R

You need both R and R-Studio to be installed into your computer in order to to run R programming language. The links for installation are:
