What have I borrowed and when is it due?

It is easy to check how many books you've borrowed from Unitec ;Library via LibrarySearch.

  1. Log into LibrarySearch (top right) - enter your Unitec email address (eg) smithj07@myunitec.ac.nz and password.
  2. Click on My Account.
  3. To display your loans, click on Loans tab. (You can now renew your items if appropriate)
  4. You can find due dates and status of your books. Note: when the status is Renewable, the system will automatically renew the item for you just before this due date.
  5. To display your historical loans, click on Active loans drop-down to see Previous and Historical Loans.
  6. Click down arrow icon (bottom right) to see more details about loan item

How to check my fines and fees?

To check your library fine and fees:

  1. Log into LibrarySearch (top right) - enter your Unitec email address (eg) smithj07@myunitec.ac.nz and password.
  2. Click My Account (top right).
  3. Highlight the My Account and click on Fines.
  4. You will see a list of your fines and fees.

How to renew a book?

Your loans will be renewed automatically up to the maximum allowed period.

Your loan will not renew if

  1. You have had the item out for the maximum length of time.
  2. You have renewed the item the maximum number of times.
  3. Your item is considered lost by the library.  You need to return the item to the library to have the Lost Item Replacement fee removed.  You can then borrow the item again.
  4. Your item has been recalled.  Another person has requested this book and is waiting to use it. There is a fine for overdue recalls.

How to check/cancel my request?

To check the status of your request, or to cancel your request

  1. Log into LibrarySearch (top right) - enter your Unitec email address (eg) smithj07@myunitec.ac.nz and password.
  2. Click My Account (top right).
  3. Highlight the My Account tab and click on Requests to see all your requests.
  4. Click Cancel button to cancel your request.

How to change my contact information

If you have not received a library notice email, your Unitec contact details may be incorrect in LibrarySearch.

To see the details the library is using to contact you:

  1. Log in to LibrarySearch (top right) - enter your Unitec email address (eg) smithj07@myunitec.ac.nz and password.
  2. Click on My Account (top right).
  3. Click on LibrarySearch Settings.
  4. You will see your contact details on this page. Click the Unitec Student Portal (MyPortal) link (top left) to update your contact information.
