Extracts from Clause 5: Limitation on Rights of the Customer to use Products

5.1 Unless otherwise authorised in writing by CCH, Products and/or Books may be used (and reproduced) by the Customer pursuant to the Licence only for: research, comment, criticism and other scholarly activities; in connection with the internal management, analysis and administration of the Customer's business activities; and in the course of providing legal and accounting services and related advisory services to the Customer's clients. In particular, the following activity is prohibited: the reproduction of any part of the Products and/or Books for sale or incorporation in any product or service intended for sale or supply to third parties is prohibited except as follows: (a) the Customer may reproduce extracts (which do not comprise substantial reproductions) of the Products and/or Books in the course of the Customer’s business of providing professional advisory services as lawyers or accountants to the Customer’s clients, if the Customer cites the relevant Product and/or Book as the source of the copy; (b) precedents included with the Products and/or Books may be used in the Customer’s business and copied, modified and supplied to the Customer’s clients in the course of the Customer’s business of providing professional advisory services as lawyers or accountants; and (c) the Customer may in respect of the Products and/or Books, do anything permitted under the Copyright Act 1994 without the requirement for a licence or other consent, and which does not infringe copyright in these Products and/or Books. 

5.3 Except as contemplated by clause 5.1, the Customer is not entitled to, and must inform Permitted Users that the Permitted Users may not, copy, modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or create derivative works based on the Products (except to load in the Permitted Users’ computer or network for use pursuant to the Licence). Nor may the Customer or Permitted Users merge Products with any other databases.
